Learn more about the MIND diet and how to optimize brain health and prevent Alzheimer’s disease and dementia with this case-based self-study course!
The MIND Diet for Brain Health is a course for registered dietitian nutritionists (RDNs) and nutrition and dietetic technicians, registered (NDTRs), certified dietary managers (CDMs), and other health care practitioners interested in the role of nutrition to optimize brain health and prevent Alzheimer’s and dementia. The MIND diet combines the Mediterranean and DASH diets to include intervention for neurodegenerative delay.
This course delves into brain anatomy, and history of Alzheimer’s disease along with supportive studies on diet and cognitive decline. Brain healthy foods are highlighted in detail as well as specific nutrients associated with optimal brain health. Five foods to limit are also discussed to create comprehensive diet plans and a helpful MIND diet scoring system. Meal plan work sheets and invaluable lifestyle and food tip sheets for brain health are provided.
In the required reading, references include diabetes, cardiology, Parkinson’s disease, dementia and Alzheimer’s disease research as well as the latest data on epidemiological studies such as the Framingham Heart Study and NHANES. References are available for all recommended foods and nutrients as well as lifestyle and tip sheets.
This course is appropriate for registered dietitian nutritionists (RDNs) working in a wide variety of settings including dialysis clinics, doctor’s offices, in-patient settings, private practice, and any other setting providing medical nutrition therapy services. This course is also appropriate for nutrition and dietetic technicians, registered (NDTRs), certified dietary managers (CDMs), and other health care practitioners.
