Malnutrition is a complex issue that requires timely and comprehensive assessment, targeted interventions, and continuous care. In both acute and long-term care settings, adopting standardized, evidence-based assessment tools and providing personalized nutrition interventions are critical for improving outcomes. Furthermore, ensuring optimal transitions of nutrition care as patients move beyond the acute setting is essential.

This webinar will highlight evidence-based approaches to malnutrition assessment, optimal nutrition interventions for improved outcomes, and efforts to achieve seamless nutrition transitions of care.

After completing this continuing education course the learner should be able to:

  1. Outline recent evidence and recommendations for malnutrition assessment methodologies in acute care and long-term care settings.
  2. Describe successful nutrition interventions in patients with nutrition risk or who are malnourished.

Ainsley Malone, MS, RDN, LD, CNSC, FAND, FASPENAinsley Malone, MS, RDN, LD, CNSC, FAND, FASPEN

Ainsley Malone is currently a Clinical Practice Specialist with the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN) where she works to support clinical practice activities for the organization.  In 2023 Ms. Malone retired from a 41-year career as a Nutrition Support Dietitian with the Mt. Carmel Health System in Columbus, Ohio, USA, where she was involved in the management of patients requiring enteral and parenteral nutrition.  Ainsley is a global and national leader in malnutrition related activities having served as an author of the 2012 Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics/ASPEN Malnutrition Consensus Characteristics and the 2018 Global Leadership Initiative on Malnutrition (GLIM) consensus characteristics.  Ainsley also assists in leading malnutrition advocacy efforts across the United States.  She has served in multiple leadership positions including President of ASPEN in 2012-13 and in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics where she currently serves as Immediate Past Speaker of the House of Delegates and as a member the Board of Directors.
