This webinar will empower nutrition professionals to better support women during the metabolic, hormonal and lifestyle changes that accompany the menopause transition.

Pending CDR Approval

Live webinar October 22 from 2:00-3:00 PM ET

Menopause represents a major metabolic transition, and women can live between 30% and 40% of their lives after menopause occurs. Despite its prevalence, many patients are unprepared for the metabolic, hormonal, and lifestyle changes that begin in the menopause transition and may significantly affect their long-term health. At the same time, women have access to confusing information online, which is often without any evidence-based support.

In this webinar, highly esteemed authors and nutrition professionals, Hillary Wright, MEd, RDN, LDN and Elizabeth Ward, MS, RDN will explore what is known about metabolic changes throughout the menopause transition and will examine how coordinated diet and lifestyle strategies support women during this complex life phase. The session will highlight body composition changes and strategies for managing weight and muscle mass in midlife, indications for dietary supplementation, physical activity recommendations, and evidence-based dietary patterns that support fewer hot flashes, better brain, heart, and bone health, and a lower risk of chronic disease throughout the menopause transition and beyond.

Note: If you purchase the live session, the recording is automatically added to your BDA account within a few days of the live event. To access the recording, sign into your BDA account at: https://www.beckydorner.com/ and choose Webinars.

After completing this continuing education course the learner should be able to:

  • Describe the metabolic changes that contribute to body changes in the perimenopausal years and their implications for diet and lifestyle counseling.
  • Evaluate the evidence supporting various dietary and lifestyle approaches for managing menopause symptoms and changes that affect the risk of chronic disease.
  • Apply medical nutrition therapy approaches when counseling those in the peri- and post-menopausal years.
  • Explain the complexity of physiologic and environmental influences on the common occurrence of weight gain through the menopause transition.
