This month of thanks and giving, we are thankful for you, our customers and subscribers. Although we face some serious challenges as health providers, we can focus on the positive and be thankful for all we have.
However, we have to be aware that our nation’s workforce crisis is having a big impact on hospitals, nursing homes and assisted living facilities. In many cases, it’s forcing facilities to lower their admission rates and bed capacity, leaving patient/resident and/or their loved ones scrambling to find care. As nutrition professionals, we need to be patient, resilient, and focus on how we can help amidst these challenges. Proper diet and nutrition has a positive effect on nearly every ailment, injury recovery, illness or disease, so it’s safe to say that the help you provide will have a positive effect on care and recovery. What we do can help keep patients/residents happy and healthy.
Two of the conditions that staff in these facilities are up against are pressure injuries and diabetes. Our resources for this month will help you gain a deeper understanding of how you can help in these areas.
As always, I love getting feedback from you on what we’re sharing. Feel free to email me at info@beckydorner.com with comments or questions.
Wishing you a healthy and happy Thanksgiving full of good food, fun, family and friends!
Warmest wishes,
Becky
