This webinar will examine the origins of the ketogenic diet as a medical therapy for epilepsy and explore whether research supports applying these principles to weight loss. The presentation will conclude with a discussion of important considerations for monitoring ketogenic dieters, complete with information about managing the various complications of this diet.

Diana Lehner-Gulotta, RDN, CNSC graduated summa cum laude in May 2015 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Dietetics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Diana then traveled to Charlottesville, Virginia to complete her dietetic internship at the University of Virginia Health System. Shortly after completing her internship, she joined the team at UVA providing nutritional care to both adult and pediatric patients in the inpatient and outpatient settings. Diana then passed the examination for Certified Nutrition Support Clinicians in May 2017 and took on a new role as a ketogenic and neurology dietitian. This unique position continues to challenge Diana daily and she feels fortunate to be able to help change lives for the better. In addition to nutrition, Diana enjoys singing, reading, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.
