Interpret and integrate evidenced-based research and literature in decision making when treating patients with a variety of medical conditions with this evidence-based self-study course!

This continuing professional education self-study course includes required reading of The Essential Pocket Guide for Clinical Nutrition, Third Edition, which provides evidence-based information on nutrition assessment, nutrition support, and nutrition considerations for specific diseases, such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and pulmonary disease.

The required reading follows a consistent chapter format that includes sections on disease process, treatment and nutritional intervention, and patient education, making it easy to find the relevant information. Most chapters include a summary of the nutrition care process (assessment, diagnosis, intervention, monitoring, and evaluation) that is appropriate for each condition. A comprehensive appendix provides information on laboratory assessment, food-drug interactions, vitamins and minerals, and dietary supplement facts. The book is a useful reference for registered dietitian nutritionists, certified diabetes educators, nutrition and dietetic technicians, registered, and educators.

The course includes a case-study based continuing professional education exam which focuses on specific aspects of the required reading and helps the learner apply the information as if implementing it into practice.

Purchasing Options: Course includes hard copy book, course document, electronic test, and 1 certificate with passing grade. If you already have the book, use the “CPE Test Only” option. NOTE: This is a 20 CPE course. There is a 10 CPE course available (see below).
