Brenda Richardson, MA, RD, LD, CD will identify specific CMS requirements for assessments, and describe the overall MDS 3.0 process. Revised coding elements related to nutrition will be presented with discussion of linking the MDS 3.0 and the care assessment areas (CAAs). Resources will be provided to assist attendees in successful implementation of MDS 3.0.

Speaker: Brenda Richardson, MA, RD, LD, CD, is owner and president
of Brenda Richardson Associates, Inc., and has more than twenty years of proven success in directing multi-million dollar food service and nutrition operations. Brenda is a national lecturer, Past President of the Indiana Dietetic Association, Current Chair and Past Treasurer of DHCC “Dietetics in Health Care Communities” (practice group of the American Dietetic Association), editor of the 2006 edition of the “CD-HCF Pocket Resource for Management”, author of “The Nutrition Professional’s Pocket Guide to the MDS Version 2.0” published March 2003, and Managing Successful Nutrition Programs with the Prospective Payment System (PPS) published in the fall 2000, and contributing author of Nutrition Care of the Older Adult published by the Consultant Dietitians in Health Care Facilities Dietetic Practice Group in 1998. Her expertise is in demand as she has successfully assisted multiple Long-Term Care facilities cited with serious and immediate jeopardy deficiencies, achieve and sustain positive nutritional outcomes. Brenda serves as liaison to the Indiana State Department of Health and Governor’s office on behalf of the Indiana Dietetic Association. Brenda’s practical experience and skills put her in demand for advocating the profession, and professional speaking throughout the country.
