Expert in Long Term Care

Becky Dorner, RD, LD, is a registered, licensed dietitian and national expert in long term care. She specializes in nutrition care for the older adult and her expertise includes unintentional weight loss, pressure ulcers and dysphagia. She has a unique talent in being able to translate technical medical situations and decipher appropriate practice using her knowledge of nutrition, dietetics, federal regulations and best practice standards.

Becky’s mission is to improve the quality of life for older adults through excellence in nutrition care. She has 25 years experience in clinical nutrition, food service management and consulting to long term care facilities. She has presented more than 350 programs and published more than 125 articles in trade publications for health care audiences to educate on various aspects of nutritional care for older adults. Her published articles have appeared in Nursing Home Magazine, Provider Magazine, Journal of the American Dietetic Association, Today’s Dietitian and Dietary Manager Magazine. She is past chair of the Consultant Dietitians in Health Care Facilities (CD-HCF) a dietetic practice group of the American Dietetic Association with more than 5,000 members. Becky is currently serving on the executive board of the National Pressure Ulcer Panel (NPUAP).

* Becky is Founder/President, Becky Dorner & Associates, Inc. a dietetic consulting and information firm; and Nutrition Consulting Services, Inc. providing nutrition services to over 100 health care facilities in Ohio since 1983.
* Becky has presented more than 350 programs at national, international, and state health care professional meetings.
* She has contributed to numerous books published by ADA and CD-HCF, and has published more than 125 practical articles in trade magazines and newsletters since 1994. Becky Dorner & Associates, Inc. has published more than 60 nationally recognized health care books, manuals, and CPE programs. 
* Becky has held more than 15 board positions in local, state & national dietetic associations from 1984-present, including Chair of CD-HCF (5500 members), and the ADA House of Delegates representing dietitians in business & consultation. Becky is the first Executive Officer of the national Consultant Dietitian Network, organized in 2003.

Honors
ADA Recognized Young Dietitian of the Year 1993, Outstanding Nutrition Entrepreneur for 2000, AOPHA (Association of Ohio Philanthropic Homes & Services for the Aging) Distinguished Service Award for Education, Research and Communications 2002, and the CD-HCF Distinguished Member Award in 2003.
